Many people get stressed out when it comes to the home inspection part of the home buying process. Don’t let that take the joy out of buying your new home! Here’s a question you might want to ask your home inspector: Are you a member of the National Association of Home Inspectors or American Society of Home Inspectors? A certified inspector must pass written tests and take courses to keep current on home inspection issues. The National Academy of Building Inspection Engineers has certain standards and requires members to be licensed professional engineers. If you live in an area where mold, pests or sinkholes are a common problem, ask if your inspector is trained for that.
