School Registration Info for Palm Beach County Schools
Is this the first year registering your child in an area Boca Raton or Palm Beach County School? Knowing who to contact, what immunizations are required, and what information to have available can be overwhelming when you are new to the area.
The Parisi Team wants to make your move easier! Here is a quick start guide to getting your child enrolled in one of our Palm Beach County Schools.
The 2008 school year is scheduled to begin on August 18th. For updates, makeup days and report card distribution dates visit http://www.palmbeach.k12.fl.us/PublicAffairs/Calendar/PDFs/2008-09/2008-09_Calendar_English.pdf
School hours can vary depending on location. If you are unsure of the school your child will be attending, contact the Boundary Office at (561) 434-8100. You can contact the school or the Public Affairs Information Directory on the web to get more information on specific hours for each school at http://www.palmbeachschools.org/

Students entering the Florida school system for the first time need the following information to register for classes:
· A valid birth certificate or proof of age
· A certified physical exam that includes a tuberculosis test
· Immunization certificates or exemption from immunization for medical or religious reasons
· Proof of Florida residency or the intent to become a resident
If you child is entering pre-kindergarten through fourth grade, they need to have the Varicella (chicken-pox) vaccine.
All students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade must have the following:
· Hepatitis B vaccine
· Two doses of measles
· One dose of mumps
· One dose of rubella (which may be given as a two-dose MMR)
· Five complete doses of diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (DTap) series
· Four doses of polio series (POV or PPV)
The DH Form 680 is the only acceptable record of immunizations. The form should be complete with the student’s name, parent or guardian’s name, dates of vaccinations, and the physician’s name and signature. If there are religious or medical reasons for not having a specific vaccine, that information must be included on the form as well.
Free vaccinations are available for all children from birth to 18 years through the Health Department. Bring your child’s current shot records and their social security card or other documentation if the social security card is not available. Immunizations have to be repeated if they are not current. For additional information, call (561) 840-0147.
Your assigned school will be your resource for bus routes and schedules. The schedules are available about one week prior to school, and are not posted on the internet.

Schools serve breakfast and lunch each day. Breakfast is only $1.00. Elementary students have lunch available for $1.50 and middle and high school students pay $1.75. Free and reduced lunches are available for children who qualify under the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program. The principal of the school will have applications available for this program.
If child care is a problem, most schools have School-Age Child Care programs in the morning and afternoon. The program assists parents who work and need extended care for their children. Your school will be able to provide details on available SACC programs.
Programs are available to support both the language development and the academic needs of children who are learning English. If you would like information on the English for Speakers of Other Language (ESOL) program, contact the Department of Multicultural Education at 561-434-8620.
Register as soon as possible. The first day of school is extremely busy and you don’t want your child’s entry to be delayed. Your assigned school will help you finalize all details.
Getting your child enrolled in a Boca Raton, Delray Beach, or another area school is just one more step in your family becoming part of our community. For more information, see the School District of Palm Beach County’s official website: http://www.palmbeach.k12.fl.us/

Hi Vanessa,
Thanks for the compliment, I do try my best
. Marbella Lakes is exactly as you have described it. It is a quaint community built in the late 1980's and is in a great location. The only downside that i see is the fact that the homes are starting to look a bit dated. If you are in the $400,000 price range, I feel you can get better value possibly looking further east or in a single-family home off St. Andrews Blvd. That is just my opinion.
Regards,
Caesar

This is very helpful information - you do a good job with this site. MInd if I ask you for feedback on another area in Boca - What do you think of Marbella Lakes? Seems quiet and tucked away, but yet still in the thick of things.
Thanks again.
