boca raton beach funThere are many reasons for families with children to relocate to the Boca Raton area.  There is a wide range of family oriented activities that can provide entertainment every day of the week.  In addition to the pristine beaches, there are public parks, tennis courts, pools, golf courses, libraries and multi-purpose trails.  For those who want to expose their family members to cultural events, there are numerous opportunities including the Boca Ballet Theater Company, The Boca Raton Philharmonic Symphony, a Children’s Museum, and a Children’s Theater Group.

There are many other attractions located in and around Boca Raton. The Gumbo Limbo Nature Center is a twenty-acre costal preserve.  It has a display of sharks and turtles in seawater tanks, a butterfly garden, a forty-foot tower that can be climbed for a panoramic view of the preserve, a sea turtle rehabilitation center and a nature-themed gift shop. There is also the Daggerwing Nature Center.  This preserve offers a boardwalk through the wetlands.  While walking the boardwalk it’s possible to spy butterflies, Herons, Egrets, Alligators, Osprey, Wood storks, and Coots. Have the kids make a list and take pictures of the various birds and animals they see.  Later, they can make a wetlands book to share with their classmates in school. The nature center also offers a building with interactive exhibits, educational displays, talks, and question and answer sessions.

Sugar Sand Park is a perpetual favorite among the younger set.  It’s free and offers a day’s worth of fun in warm weather (almost any day of the year!. The water feature is especially popular.  Kids can squirt each other and run under a fountain. When they tire of this, they can climb up to a tree house, play in a huge dinosaur sandbox, take a nature walk, or ride a carousel.  There’s also a Children’s Science Museum that offers hands-on, interactive play.  Coconut Cove Water Park is also sure to please the young and the young at heart.  It includes a 986 ft. long River ride, water slides and a children’s water playground.  As can be seen, there are plenty of outdoor family activities that take full advantage of Florida’s temperate climate.  And remember, this is only a partial list!
