Red Light Cameras are Installed in Boca Raton

It turns out that the crown jewel of Florida isn't just about high end living and unparalleled luxury; the community that is Boca Raton, Florida also makes safety and family values a top priority. Evidence? Look no further than the new red light cameras at six intersections throughout the city, only just made fully operational on April 14, 2012.

The 12 new red light cameras have been installed via contract with American Traffic Solutions at 6 high traffic intersections throughout the city. The cameras will run 24 hours a day, and are estimated to bring the city over $400,000 per year in much needed funding from ticket fees; the city receives $75 of every single driver who's successfully fined.

Here's a sample list of who's getting caught on camera in Boca Raton:

Eastbound and Westbound traffic on Glades Road at NW. 2nd Avenue

Eastbound and Northbound traffic on Glades Road and St. Andrews Boulevard

Northbound and Southbound traffic on Military Trail at Spanish River Boulevard

Northbound and Southbound traffic on federal highway at NE. 20th Street

Northbound and Southbound traffic on Congress Avenue at Clint Moore Road

Eastbound and Westbound traffic on Glades Road at NW. 15th Avenue (delayed; estimated to be operational in August)

Many of the drivers in Boca Raton may see the installation of these cameras as a frustrating hassle, but you'll be hard-pressed to find a parent who isn't happy with the extra safety measure. Some of the area politicians that opposed the institution plead that the increased frequency of rear end accidents caused by the red light cameras would outweigh the potential decrease in red-light-runners. However, since statistically a T-bone crash is much worse than a rear end accident, the argument doesn't seem to hold much weight.

After months of deliberation and studying the effects of such cameras in other states and cities, Boca Raton finally gave the go ahead for installation, determining that safety is what matters most in the end. Cops love them, drivers hate them, but in the end anything that can potentially make the streets safer is worth a try. Plus, the extra money can be used to further improve one of the most luxurious cities in Florida!

Antique Shopping in Palm Beach County

As most people know, Boca Raton is located in Palm Beach County. And as many people also know, Palm Beach County is home to some of the wealthiest people in the United States. Because of this, the antique business in Palm Beach County is booming. Antiques are typically considered a luxury item. Perhaps it’s because of this fact that antiques represent wealth and status among the upper echelons of our society. So antique stores, hoping to turn a profit, make sure that there is always a steady supply of antiques to appeal to the sensibilities of their wealthier clients. It also should be remembered that when clients wish to dispose of antique pieces, they often end up in antique stores in the Palm Beach area. This means that many beautiful “treasures” can often be found in these stores.

So, where should the resolute antique shopper begin? Dixie Highway’s famous “Antiques Row” is as good a place as any. Over forty shops are located on this easily accessible stretch of highway. There are elite shops like the Elephant’s Foot where antiques may be pricy, and thrift stores like The Animal Rescue League Thrift Shop and Gulfstream Goodwill. There truly are stores that service the full spectrum of shoppers (and their wallets!).

There are also specialty antique shops located in Palm Beach County. For instance, Harris Kratz specializes in neoclassical furnishings from 1790 to 1990; Galere specializes in twentieth century decorative art and furnishings. Boca Raton also boasts several antique specialty shops. At “Antiques and Country Pine, “ it’s possible to find superb pieces of porcelain, jewelry, glass, bronze and art. In addition, the shop offers free appraisals and holds frequent auctions. This past March 31, 2012, the store held an auction featuring “fine decorative arts and Chinese works.” This auction, like all their auctions, was open to the public. A catalogue is always available to preview what will be sold at a particular auction.

Billed as the “South Florida's largest antiques mall,” Hillsboro Antique Mall and Café is located in Pompano Beach, just south of Boca Raton. The mall is housed in a 35,000 square foot facility, and over 250 antique dealers can be found there on a daily basis. The mall is open seven days a week, and is a prime destination for antique shoppers from all over south Florida. If a shopper wishes to receive advance warning about specials, she can sign up to receive a newsletter from the mall via email.

Once a month, there’s also a huge antiques show at the South Florida Fairgrounds. There are often more than 400 dealers in attendance. And in February of each year, the International Fine Art and Antique Fair is held at the Palm Beach County Convention Center. There are a number of other antique shows that are too numerous to mention. The antique shopper will always find something to arouse his interest in the Palm Beach County antique market!

The Boca Raton Resort and Club

If you need a place to stay while house hunting in the Boca Raton area, there are numerous options. And for those who want to combine house hunting with a vacation, hotels and resorts near the beach are plentiful. Perhaps the best-known resort in the Boca Raton area is the Boca Raton Resort and Club. This Mediterranean style club has a long history in the Boca Raton area, and is arguably the most recognized structure in southeast Florida. The original building was completed in 1926 and was designed by prominent architect, Addison Mizner. There have been several renovations and additions since that time, and today it is a sprawling structure that sits on 365 manicured acres.

The resort boasts 1,043 rooms that are decorated in five different styles and located in distinct wings. Each room is equipped with at least one flat screen television. For families requiring more space, fifty-eight suites are available. There are also 76 junior suites and a few bungalows. Many of the guests stop at the resort in order to partake of Florida History. They come to stay in the carefully preserved, Spanish-style Cloister wing. Some patrons are so enamored with this experience that they make a yearly trek to the resort.

Of course, there are so many activities that guests usually don’t spend much time in their rooms. The resort offers two golf courses, seven swimming pools, a full service marina, deep-sea fishing charters, three gyms, thirty tennis courts, and a private beach. To facilitate guest convenience, there is a shuttle service that runs throughout this enormous complex. Concierge service is always available and there is a childcare facility on the premises. Every effort is made to ensure that each guest’s stay is a memorable one.

For those who enjoy fine dining, the resort offers eleven restaurants. Each restaurant has a distinct ambiance and emphasizes different types of food preparation. There is truly a restaurant to suite every guest’s unique tastes. And for those who want to partake of some nightlife, there are eight bars within the complex. There are also literally hundreds of restaurants and bars within easy driving distance of the resort. And the Palm Beach County area is jam-packed with activities and special events throughout the year. A resident or traveler never has to want for something to keep him occupied.

So, when you search for that “dream home” in the Palm Beach County area, remember to check out the Boca Raton Resort and Club. You can have a dream vacation, while looking for that dream home!

Mizner Park is a Boca Raton "Gem"

Mizner Park is a beautifully renovated mall in Boca Raton. It’s an outdoor mall that takes full advantage of the temperate Florida climate. The architecture is a striking Mediterranean Revival. There’s a lush, tropical atmosphere with fountains and decorative walkways. Many people come to the mall to just enjoy a stroll or sit and relax on one of the outdoor benches. Of course, many others (especially the women) come to shop!

Mizner Park is home to many shops and boutiques. There are stores that cater to those interested in women’s apparel, accessories, jewelry, men’s apparel, shoes, housewares, pets, and children’s apparel. Chain stores are represented as well as boutiques that carry many one-of-a-kind items. Some of the stores even offer goodies to munch on while you shop. Speaking of munching, Mizner Park also offers thirteen eateries. Family friendly Ruby Tuesday’s is there as well as upscale Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse. There are thirteen eating-places in all, offering such diverse fare as Mexican, Italian and Irish foods.

The Boca Raton Museum of Art is also housed at Mizner Park. As its name implies, it features prominent works of art by local, regional and even international artists. Antiques are also spotlighted at the museum. And if a traveling art show is coming to town, it’s likely to be found at the museum in Mizner Park. Outdoor concerts are also held in a large amphitheater in Mizner Park. In April alone there will be a free concert by the Lynn University philharmonic, an annual Easter in the Park worship service, and the Boca Bacchanal Grand tasting event. This fun affair includes wine tasting and sampling foods from several local restaurants. Be sure to arrive early, as it can get crowded!

And as if that’s not enough, Mizner Park also boasts rental apartments. There truly is something for everyone at Mizner Park. So for all your shopping, epicurean and entertainment needs, check out Mizner Park. You won’t be disappointed!

Economic Opportunities in Boca Raton

Many people want to move to the Boca Raton area to enjoy the lifestyle and the many amenities the community offers. Pristine white beaches, nature trails, abundant entertainment, and picture perfect weather all beckon. And those interested in obtaining employment may be pleasantly surprised to learn that the economic outlook for the Boca Raton area has never been better.

The locale boasts one of the largest business concentrations in South Florida. Many National and international companies have their headquarters or regional offices in Boca Raton and its environs. IBM, Office Depot and ADT have large offices that employ several thousand people. There are also media companies like American Media and Friend Finder Networks. E-retailers like Vitacost and BMI Gaming make their home in Boca Raton. There are also numerous tech start-up businesses. It’s no wonder that Boca Raton has been dubbed ‘Silicon Beach.”

Other companies with frequent job openings include Bank of America, Home Depot, HCA, Staples, and Tenet Health Care. Naturally, there are also many jobs available in the hotel and restaurant industries as tourism is an ever- growing entity. There are literally thousands of hotels and restaurants in the area that employ several thousand people. For example, The Boca Raton Resort employs over 2,200 people. Another large employer is Florida Atlantic University, which is a part of the state university system. It has a workforce of 2, 776 people.

As can be seen, the list of possible employers in both the public and private sectors is extensive. In fact, there are so many job opportunities that no matter what your previous experience, you are sure to find the perfect fit. Add all of these available job prospects to the following facts: there is no state income tax and the local sales tax is below the national average. The unemployment rate is also below the national average and the outlook for future job growth is above that of the rest of the United States. Succinctly put: you can achieve the lifestyle you want and the economic stability you need in Boca Raton!

I recently had a client stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in Boca Raton, Florida while they were searching for country club homes in Boca Raton. They couldnt say enough positive things about their stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites.

They received the most outstanding service during their stay. Everyone at the hotel was extraordinary and went above and beyond to assist them with their every need. The hotel itself was beautifully landscaped and the pool area was magnificent. The rooms were clean and spacious and the rates were more than reasonable for the value they received. The stay even included a complimentary breakfast buffet, free wireless internet, free local calls and free faxes which really helped us in finding them the Home of their dreams.

he location of the hotel was convenient to both the Palm Beach and Ft Lauderdale areas which made getting around very easy for them. Truluck's of Boca Raton, Florida

I was recently pleased to hear that the 5 star seafood restaurant known as Truluck's has recently opened it's operations in Mizner Park of Boca Raton. Not too long ago I went with my wife to this fine establishment in Naples, FL. I must say that the service, food and personal attention that you receive are second to none. I originally wanted to order a surf and turf along with my wife. The waiter recommended that we try the crab legs. I explained to him that I am not a fan of removing the crab from a shell. It has always seemed to be a tedious task and by the end of dinner it is more work than really enjoying the meal. The waiter without hesitation offered to remove all of the crab form the legs and put it on a platter for us to pick from. I am glad that I took his suggestion. The crab was some of the tastiest crab that I have ever experienced. Beyond the meal being one of the best that I have experienced, the service was just as good.

Truluck's Reservations

We decided let's try to make reservations at the Truluck's in Boca Raton on a Friday night for my wife's birthday. The only opening that were available at the Boca Raton location for that night were 5:30 PM and 9:45 PM. I f you would like to try this fine establishment make sure that you make reservations well in advance.

Please let me know how the service and food was for you. I am interested in finding out if this location is as good as the one in Naples.

Please post your comments below about the Truluck's in Mizner Park. We look forward to hearing from you.
